Glad we are still able to help in some small way.

At work, we have given up on these models now, as everyone wants more modern PVR recorders with HD etc, so they are all obsolete.
I'm not sure how much longer we can be of use.

regards

10.5 v is probably ok on the 12v rail. Are you saying it completes the initial boot up ok? yes I think. Then when you turn on, display comes on etc yes. then it soon crashes and goes back to 'loading' or 'please wait' ? fan control..... should be on when machine is actually on and running, stopped i...

I have always and still use norton ghost, as offered by Geert Jan elsewhere on this site. Still works for me now (from a floppy)!
Must used in RAW mode.

Those symptoms sound like a bad connection on one of the pins on the SCART lead.

If the sound continues, it can't really be in the DRMH

Moral of the story.... It's always capacitors ! !

The voltage regulators require input and output capacitance to be able to control the output correctly. The faulty caps allow ripple on the lines, upsetting the regs.

under (inside) the video head there is a copper slip ring and carbon brush that runs round it that provides earth to the head to discharge any static build up. That causes your symptoms. It's a common problem for that brush/ring to need cleaning. 2 screws removes the green drive board. note the posi...

R-LK I think is remote lock or childproof mode . It has probably corrupted some eeprom settings and this is one result. not sure how to remove that, but think if you hold power button on remote for 5 seconds. don't know what format they use, it was just explained as an mpeg2 transport stream regards...

That doesn't sound good. If it gets as far as the loading slider, then please wait and a picture, before then crashing/re booting, you may be able to get it to menu/ dtv setup mode and do a reset defaults which may clear your problem. You need to be quick to do this..as soon as the channel com...

The positioning of the gears is critical, that I do remember. there was never any technical to show a procedure on how to do this. I did make 2 into one once, but did have some issues getting it to line up under all slow mo and shuttle modes. The customer was happy to have a machine that played...

Sorry for the late reply. I had only just seen this post.

The metal shafts through the gears are too tight and eventually the plastic gears split. They are not available :(
You had to buy a complete head assembly

For the benefit of others.... The OTA update has solved almost all issues now, however I have seen a few machines lately that leave the HDD running all the time in standby- when not recording. Not sure why this is. I'm assuming it may be due to some internal housekeeping function like disk defreg. B...

There is now a version 10 software being ota updated to these sets designed to iron out a few bugs caused by the number of channel changes etc in recent months Incorrect live tv pause/rewind is the main glitch that has been evident these past months. The update seems to clear this but not straight a...
