Thanks for the heads up Wayne!! 8) I checked, and the caps were faulty. I googled a bit, and found that i must use same capacitance in uF, but the voltage maybe bigger but never smaller. I've done and replaced them from spares i had lying around except one. I'ts a 100v 4.7uF. I googled extensively, ...

OMG you guys it LIIIIVEESS!!!! I was pressing hard on 2 of the caps that i felt were faulty, one was on its side like the tower of Pisa, its a big one next to a metal heat dissipator, and a really small one next to a diode. And NOW..it boots into where the jvc logo etc is glowing, and it boots furth...

Thank you guys so much for your help. I was looking around inside the machine, and i found 2 bulging capacitors. Im going to try and replace those and see what else happens. Thanks for the info on the jumper settings Wayne! Andy, the machine is pal, my apologies for not being more specific. Thanks for the Info Wayne, I did get a hold of a drive off of ebay, and have written the image i got from the ftp site with ghost onto this drive. The drive is D540X-4K Now i dont get any picture at all, it used to display the boot screen repeatedly with the broken/clicking drive.. Now it just sits ...

Unplug the unit from the mains and open it up. Disconnect the HDD ribbon cable (leave the power connector in) Power up the unit and wait for about 2-3 minutes, then unplug it from the mains again.
