Regarding the overwrite feature (if you can call it that!) I seem to remember that being correct. The later HMHDS4 has the ability to choose whether you overwite or not. Don't forget with this 1st generation unit there are a number of missing features etc that weren't 'thought about' until the gener...

The ghost imaging normally takes about 4-5 hours . Making your own backup will take longer than copying the FTP backup since you can't remove all the random data.... The FTP image has already had that removed (I assume!) and if I remember takes about 1.5 hrs

Hi sorry for not replying earlier... I am a JVC dealer in Lancashire. Your suppositions are basically correct. These machines are 'early hybrid' models with some flaws. Basically the HMHDS4 has proved to be much more reliable than the earlier model, but when a fault occurs that the HDD cannot recove...

Re imaging the drive should cure the problems assuming its just HDD corruption. This would be undetectable to any JVC service centre, even if you end up sending it back for warranty. There wouldn't be any warranty implications either (being a JVC dealer in the UK, we have the freedom to decide for o...

V2.0 software

The new version software is being Beta tested at the moment- and from the machines I've done so far, appears to cure the issues above. It is likely that when approved there will be an auto-over-the-air-update sent to all the JVC boxes so there will be no need to take your machine into a dealer... In...

re FF codes and manuals

You can't get to the service menu from the user remote I'm afraid. The only adjustments are the EVR's for the VHS deck settings. As for the HDD its a Maxtor diamond max- known models are listed elsewhere on this forum.. if yours is different then please let us know, we are trying to compile a comple...

JVC Instruction Manuals

Most JVC user instruction manuals for models produced from 2000 onwards are available for download from JVC: you can use the link below. http://www.jvc.co.uk/download.php?type=2 If you don't find the model listed, please post a request and I can probably locate and email you the pdf. All models pre ...

JVC TU-DB1S Freeview box

There are a couple of issues with this decoder at the present time. When these boxes are used on the Winter Hill (North West England) transmitter ITV1 (ITV3?also) will have picture but no sound. The boxes have software V1.12 in them ex factory. A new V1.15 software is available for dealers to update...

re Delay in DV stream

Ok so I have tested the lip sync on both my machines. There is a just discernable seperation between the a & v streams on both of them. I can't quantify it to an exact time advance but it is slight. I recorded clapping, and whilst transferring it sounded correct, upon playback you could just sen...

re Delay in DV stream

Ok, so I need to check my machines now to test if they're the same... I must admit I have never used the DV mode- upto press- I use my 2 machines as time shift vcr's. I'll report back asap. I assume it was JVC customer services you spoke to... They are usually very good and on the ball- I can send a...

JVC DRM10 DRMH20 DRMH30 loading or sound problems

CHECK OUT THE DVD RECORDER SECTION FOR ADVICE ON ALL MODELS

There are a couple of know issues with this series of DVD recorders. Intermittently there may be a display flashing 'LOADING' constantly or problems with flashing green lines on picture or distorted sound.

Another thought

You haven't just changed Tv as well? 100hz modern Tvs can have the same issues since they need to digitally process the pic- this takes time and thus the sound needs to be delayed- just a thought! AW
