Checking JVC parts online- QAL0704 which is what you need does have a replacement listed now despite what the pdf says. priced at 69+carr+vat. I assume due to necessity they have re sourced some units. These should be a straight swap, although they will likely suggest a firmware update is done. I wo...

Not just sure which drive you have in your drmh300.:? but checking JVC spares the GDA4163 throws up the QAL0704 as substitute Earlier machines have either a QAL0651 xxxx or QAL0704 xxxx drive These QALs are no longer available and all later models have a PDM0120ACC1E drive and that is what is suppli...

Just about all the DRMH300 will by now have required a new DVD drive

There are a few versions of drive around so you need to check part no first, but I can supply for £89 posted the common one.

Sounds like the psu is firing up then tripping.....continuously.

Did you check and replace if needed the small surface mount resistors on the back of the board? I've had these go high when the main IC fails. watch out for the retained 350v dc on the big cap when working on these.

You need to only replace it with the EXACT replacement model. Even then we have had reports of problems getting a blank drive to work. A clone in Raw mode from a working drive is the best bet. works everytime for me.

Following my instructions at the top of this forum, have you fixed the power supply capacitors.?

Only then do you check the HDD and if necessary recover it.

Contrary to your thoughts, some dry joints often cannot be easily provoked by tapping, but instead only appear as the temp of the component increases and its legs increase in length as a result. I can't remember, but if the bottom panel removes to give access to the soldering under the main amp boar...

Hi Dont often see these. I think its based more on the HMHDS4 rather than the newer units. I think its more likely to be HDD corruption than psu capacitor faults. Its worth looking at the caps first anyway as a preventative measure. Its the sort of thing I would need to have in front of me to do tes...

OK that narrows it down a fair bit.

I would bet on poor soldering on the pins of a small transistor on that channel. I would advise against trying to find it yourself unless you are fairly confident with a soldering iron, in case you leave a short etc.

Doubtful its a cap really.

if it does it with the volume down its in the main amp. Is it on both channels..if so then its power supply.
When it does it does the amp cut out?

Hi The most likely cause is a dry/fractured solder joint. If you tap the unit, can you make it happen? If not that then it will be tough to diagnose where the pop comes from.

Get the units soldering, especially on the main amp and power boards checked for problem solder joints.

There is no where to download it. Its 140Mb that needs to go on a disc.

I'm not certain the UK version will be the same for other countries e.g. Yugoslavia
