JVC LT26DE9 LT32DE9 LT26DE1 LT32DE1 problems

Post by andywilks »

These models all have an HDD recorder built in.
Based on the Humax 9200/ 9150 series, they are pretty reliable.

With digital switchover now being phased in around the uk, when there is partial switchover there have been slight problems.

There is a software update that is available to stop the units intermittently locking up, or slow remote control operation.

Eventually JVC will probably OTA update all tvs automatically, but for now dealers have access to the firmware update to resolve this.

It needs a lead making to connect the PC to the RS232 port to download into the TV so its not really a DIY quick fix.

You can check if the update is in your set. Check in The DTV menu- for version 1.00.09 version 8 or less is un modified.

There is now a version 10 software being ota updated to these sets designed to iron out a few bugs caused by the number of channel changes etc in recent months

Incorrect live tv pause/rewind is the main glitch that has been evident these past months. The update seems to clear this but not straight away. It's as if the set cures itself after a defrag during the next two days

Unfortunately these sets don't get the guide backup/restorer feature that the humax pvrs have now got. This is apparently due to a hardware difference

For the benefit of others....

The OTA update has solved almost all issues now, however I have seen a few machines lately that leave the HDD running all the time in standby- when not recording.
Not sure why this is.
I'm assuming it may be due to some internal housekeeping function like disk defreg.
But more likely is a sort of mini crash/eeprom data corruption. A factory default reset stops it!!
