Byrontub,
Sorry, but this is not the right forum for Asus PCs.
I wish you luck though.
Regards,
Andy.

Re: DR-MH30SU How I fixed mine
Hi Flinx,
Thanks for the great video. I'm sure that'll help some people out there.
Oh, and we were here 10 years ago - in fact I started this in 2005. Where were you?!
All the best,
Andy.

- Now upgraded to 3.2.0
- Changed multiple choice new user authentication to reCaptcha. Let's hope this weeds out the spammers a bit better.

After what seems like many years I have finally managed to upgrade PHPBB from 2.0.22 to 3.1.9.
Hopefully I can now start to clear down the spammers - you know who you are

Colin, Very interesting to hear your views on the SVHS quality of this deck. Perhaps I won't scrap it after all. Anyway, if this reply is not too late: When you image the file(s) back with Ghost.exe, it automatically recognises each one as parts of an individual disk image. Therefore, Ghost.exe will...

Bowing out gracefully
Hi everyone, Just a quick note to say that I'm spending less time on this forum that I used to, and in reality I haven't contributed or answered any questions since I don't know when. This is simply because the PVR that started it all for me (my HM-HDS1) is now consigned to my technical dustbin of h...

Sounds like you're making progress with your capturing. FYI, I've had ghosting with cheap SVHS cables. Not sure if that's the case with you. I plan to capture all my old tapes too, but I'm going to use SHVS into a camcorder which does A-D conversion out to firewire and then into my PC for capturing....

shabi, sounds like you're making progress, but like Wayne, I don't know what happens to the overall power rating when caps are placed in parallel or serial. If I were you, I wouldn't take any chances. Electrolytics can explode if over-stressed. Pop in to your local branch of Maplins and pick up the ...

sahbi, Are you sure the capacitors are actually bulging, and not just some glue holding them down? I've been caught out by that before. Just a thought. You say you're obsessed; perhaps it's time to take it out to the barn and give it both barrels. You can pick up much nicer units for peanuts nowaday...

shabi, I'm assuming you've already looked at http://www.cippico.com/technical/jvc-hm-hds1/hd-models.htm Are you sure the replacement drive is definitely model number 4K040H2? As regards the image: yes, I believe it is a spanned one of about 3GB in size. Our man in the Netherlands (Geert Jan Laanstra...

Yeah, some of the old stuff is still excellent. I remember paying just over £1000 for a JVC S5000EK S-VHS deck in 1990 (see pics below). I must have saved for several months to pay for that baby. http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb8/acippico/Ebay/5000.jpg http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb8/aci...
