Hi Andy, when powering on the unit all I get is the message "please Wait" then four "- - - -", at that point their is no functionalality from any of the buttons. - would be frateful for any idea's please.

Dont often see these. I think its based more on the HMHDS4 rather than the newer units. I think its more likely to be HDD corruption than psu capacitor faults. Its worth looking at the caps first anyway as a preventative measure.
Its the sort of thing I would need to have in front of me to do tests on to be more precise
